The Massachusetts Alliance for Sober Housing (MASH) sober housing certification is voluntary. MASH transparently measures, and reports on MASH certified sober homes, and compliance issues according to the MASH Code of Ethics. All documentation submitted by applicants for certification is held by MASH in confidence and accessed by MASH staff for the sole purpose of determining the applicants initial and continuing compliance. Only certified residences are visible to the general public. If a sober home is de-certified it will be immediately removed from public-facing listing on the MASH website.

All MASH certified sober homes will have the following information made available to the public on the MASH website:

1. House name
2. House address
3. Number of beds
4. If the house is for male, female or co-ed residents
5. The region that the house is located in
6. A contact name, email address and phone number
